I'm a Temple?!

This morning's worship introduced me to 1 Corinthians 3:16:
"Do you not know that you are God's temple and that God's Spirit dwells in you?"
I had heard my Mom say to me as a child that my body was a temple, but I never really understood what that meant. Later in life I heard this very verse, but never truly applied and connected it to my life because I was too comfortable being comfortable.
But, for some reason, this verse hit me today like a tetherball to the face! I am God's temple and He dwells in ME! I then pictured a church and wondered to myself:
"would I allow Chic Fila A to be eaten in God's temple?" Or "would I allow gossip, meanness, dislike or hate to dwell in the temple?" How about, "would I be eating edibles in God's temple?" Man, what a visual!
Then I started to think about what should be taking place in this temple...is worship taking place? Is prayer taking place? Is the studying of His word taking place? Is love towards ALL taking place?
In all of this I came to the final realization that if I am a place for Christ's Spirit to dwell, then I must work MUCH harder to create a Holy space in order for Him to reside in me...I must begin to let go of the things that make me feel good, and grab onto the things that will allow me to be good.
Whew Chile! Ya'll pray for me...I've got A LOT of work to do!
Blessings and love,
